Editorial policy

How MxMob writes, rates and corrects its content, and how commercial relationships are kept separate from editorial judgement.

Last updated 2026-08-31

MxMob publishes two distinct kinds of content: specification data, which is factual and sourced, and editorial assessment, which is opinion. This page covers the second. For the first, seehow we source data.

What our assessments are — and are not

Verdicts, pros and cons, ratings and comparison analysis on MxMob are written from the verified specification sheet for the device in question. They are an informed reading of what the hardware means in practice.

They are not hands-on reviews. Where we have not physically tested a device, we do not claim to have done so, and we do not make claims that could only come from testing — real-world battery endurance, thermal behaviour under sustained load, or image quality judgements. If we ever publish hands-on testing, it will be labelled explicitly as such and the method will be described.

How ratings work

Scores are out of 10 and are broken down across display, performance, camera hardware, battery and charging, software support and value. The overall score reflects those components; it is not a separate judgement layered on top.

Value is assessed against launch price in the device's own market segment. A budget phone is not marked down for lacking flagship hardware, and a flagship is not excused for the same omission.

Comparison pages score only measurable specifications. Where neither device is objectively better — screen size, operating system, choice of build material — the row is shown for reference and left unscored. We would rather report "no winner" than invent one.

Independence and commercial relationships

MxMob is funded by advertising. Advertisers have no input into editorial content, no advance sight of it, and no influence over ratings or comparison outcomes. Ad placements are fixed by page template and are not sold against specific devices, brands or verdicts.

We do not accept payment for coverage, for a higher rating, or for favourable placement in a comparison or list. If we introduce affiliate links in future, they will be disclosed clearly on every page that carries them, and they will not influence which devices are recommended.

Manufacturers do not review content before publication.

Use of automated tooling

We use automated tooling to research primary sources, compile structured specification records and draft editorial assessments from those verified records. All output is validated against a strict schema before publication, and records without traceable sources are rejected.

We state this plainly because readers deserve to know how content is produced. Automation does not lower the standard we hold the output to: the sourcing rules on this site apply identically regardless of how a draft was produced, and responsibility for what is published rests with MxMob.

Corrections and updates

When we get something wrong, we fix the page itself rather than leaving the error up with a note appended. Specification records show a "last checked" date so you can see how current the data is.

To report an error, contact us with the page, the figure you believe is wrong, and a source for the correct value.

Trademarks

Device names, brand names and logos are the property of their respective owners. MxMob is an independent publication and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any manufacturer whose products it covers.
