How the click speed test works
Choose 1, 5 or 10 seconds and click or tap the box as fast as you can. The timer starts on your first click, and your score is the number of clicks divided by the seconds. Your best score for each length is saved on this device. Space bar and Enter presses don't count, so the score reflects your mouse, trackpad or finger.
What is a good CPS score?
- Under 6 CPS: casual clicking.
- 6–8 CPS: average for most people with regular clicking.
- 9–12 CPS: fast. Common for gamers using jitter clicking.
- 13+ CPS: very fast, usually from butterfly or drag clicking with a gaming mouse.
Click techniques
- Regular clicking: one finger, relaxed wrist. Easiest to keep up over time.
- Jitter clicking: tensing the arm so the finger vibrates on the button. Fast, but tiring. Take breaks to avoid strain.
- Butterfly clicking: alternating two fingers on the same button.
Mouse double-clicking during the test?
If your score jumps higher than you expect, or single clicks sometimes register twice in games, the mouse switch may be worn. Check it with the mouse test, which detects accidental double-clicks. Testing a whole laptop? Run the laptop test.

Does the click speed test work on phones?
Yes. Tap the box as fast as you can. Each finger tap counts as a click, and double-tap zoom is turned off in the test box.
Why did my click count jump suddenly?
