What battery health means
Battery health is how much charge the battery holds now compared with when it was new. A phone at 85% runs about 15% shorter on a charge than it did new. Lithium-ion batteries wear with every charge cycle and with heat, so health drops a few percent a year with normal use.
Above 85% is fine for a used phone. 80–85% works but will need a battery within a year. Under 80% means a new battery now, which costs roughly $70–$120 officially in the US. Take that off the price.
