Google Pixel phones include a hidden Pixel Diagnostic app, a battery health screen on newer models, and a Repair mode that protects your data. Here is how to use them.
Open the Pixel Diagnostic app
- Open the Phone app keypad.
- Dial *#*#7287#*#*. The Pixel Diagnostic app opens.
- Run tests for the display, touch, audio, cameras, sensors, buttons and connectivity. If nothing opens, your Pixel or Android version doesn’t include it, so use the browser test below.
Check battery health
- Open Settings › Battery › Battery health (Pixel 8a and newer).
- It shows the estimated capacity and whether the battery is Normal or needs service.
- On older Pixels, run the MxMob battery test and watch for fast drain or sudden shutdowns.
Before a repair: Repair mode
Turn on Settings › System › Repair mode before sending a Pixel for repair. It keeps your personal data private while the technician tests the phone.
