Acer Care Center checkup
- Open Acer Care Center or AcerSense from the Start menu.
- Choose Checkup and run the scan.
- Review the results for the battery, storage, network and system, and follow the suggested fixes.
Battery and BIOS
- Run powercfg /batteryreport in Command Prompt and compare Full charge capacity with Design capacity.
- Press F2 at startup to open the BIOS and confirm the processor, memory and storage.
- Press F12 at startup for the boot menu (turn it on under Boot in the BIOS if nothing happens).
Buying a used Acer laptop
- Run the Care Center checkup and a battery report. Under about 80% of design capacity, budget for a new battery.
- Press every key with the keyboard test and drag across the whole touchpad.
- Check the screen with the dead pixel test and the backlight bleed test; budget panels often have bright corners.
- On Nitro and Predator gaming models, check that the fans spin up under load and the laptop doesn’t shut down when it gets hot.
- Confirm Windows is activated and signed out of the seller’s Microsoft account, and that there is no BIOS password.
